Gottfried Wilhelm Freiherr von Leibniz
Geboren am 1.7.1646 in Leipzig; gestorben am 14.11.1716 in Hannover.

(E?)(L?) http://www.forumromanum.org/literature/
A digital library of latin texts. This project seeks to catalogue the entire body of Latin literature, spanning from the earliest epigraphic remains to the Neo-Latinists of the eighteenth century. That alone equates to tens of thousands of Latin texts, and when you throw in the translations and secondary materials that are also available through this site, there's quite a lot to sort through.

Bibliotheca Augustana

Jacopo de Voragine is best known as the author of a collection of legendary lives of the saints, which was entitled "Legenda Sanctorum" by the author, but soon became universally known as "Legenda Aurea" ("Golden Legend"), because the people of those times considered it worth its weight in gold.
...
Bernard Guidonis (d. 1331), also a Dominican, made a vain attempt to supplant it by a more reliable work of the same character, which he entitled "Speculum Sanctorum". In 1500 as many as seventy-four Latin editions of the "Legenda Aurea" had been published, not counting the three translations into English, five French, eight Italian, fourteen Low German, and three Bohemian. The first printed edition was in Latin, and was produced at Basle in 1470. Many succeeding editions contain additions of the lives of later saints or of feasts introduced after the thirteenth century. The best Latin edition was prepared by Graesse (Dresden and Leipzig, 1846, 1850, and Breslau, 1890). The first English edition was printed by William Caxton at London in 1483 from a version made about 1450. It was inscribed:

For years, designers have been using fake Latin gibberish known as "greeking" (or sometimes "lorem ipsum", after the customary initial words) as a text placekeeper. It conveys the shape and "color" of text without the distraction of actual content.
"Lorem Ipsum" is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. "Lorem Ipsum" has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing "Lorem Ipsum" passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of "Lorem Ipsum".
Contrary to popular belief, "Lorem Ipsum" is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a "Lorem Ipsum" passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source.
"Lorem Ipsum" comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of "Lorem Ipsum", "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
The standard chunk of "Lorem Ipsum" used since the 1500s is reproduced below for those interested. Sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 from "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" by Cicero are also reproduced in their exact original form, accompanied by English versions from the 1914 translation by H. Rackham.

Chr, was ihn über 2000 Jahre alt macht.

Lorem Ipsum is dummy text of the printing, typesetting and Web design industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type-specimen book.

(E?)(L1) http://www.digitale-bibliothek.de/band30.htm
Jh. v. Chr. bis zum 5. Jh. n. Chr.).

Daneben enthält die CD-ROM u.a.
