Die schon 1871 gezüchtete Rose mit dem Namen "Princess of Wales" wurde plötzlich zum Verkaufsrenner. Auch die Rose "Lady Di", die der Züchter Huber aus der Schweiz 1982 herausgab und nicht der Prinzessin Diana gewidmet hatte, sondern seiner Tochter Diana, war deshalb ob der Namensgleichheit sehr gefragt. Im Todesjahr widmete ihr der Züchter Harkness dann die oben genannte "Princess of Wales".

"Amber Queen", "HARroony", "Prinz Eugen von Savoyen", Harkness (GB) 1984 Floribunda, bernsteinfarben dauerblühend stark duftend AARS 1988, Best of the Best-Rose in England 1984, Gold Den Haag 1991 und 2010 zur 'Platinum Rose von Den Haag' gekürt, ein Sonderpreis, der auf der fünfzigsten Rosenschau von Den Haag vom Internationalen Auswahlskomitee an eine der bisherigen dort gekürten Goldenen Rosen vergeben wurde.

Diese Rose hieß ursprünglich nach der Tochter des Züchters "Rosemary Harkness", aber nachdem sie so viele (26!) Bare Root Bush Roses

The Harkness Collection of Bush Roses is made up of a great selection of modern varieties with some older favorites mixed in. Bush Roses are Hybrid Tea (large flowers) and Floribunda (clusters of flowers) varieties. They can be mixed as you desire.

These stalwarts of the rose world are the meat and drink of gardens. There are varieties in this Harkness Collection that will grow to between 80 cm and 150 cm. The roses are perfect in beds, borders, for hedges, for cutting and some smaller varieties are great in Patio pots. Bare Root Shrub Roses

Shrub Roses in the Harkness range are mostly modern Shrub Roses. We concentrate on the more modern varieties as they tend to offer a much longer flowering period than many of the traditional varieties old varieties and in many cases are rather easier to grow successfully.

A shrub rose can have a flower with only five petals (known as single blooms), ten to fifteen petals (known as semi double blooms) or between twenty and one hundred petals (known as double blooms). The range is almost infinite when we look at flower shapes and structures. There really is something for everyone, and for the Bees if you go for the single or semi double blooms.

Shrub roses are best in hedges and borders, they can be specific Rose beds and borders or mixed with perennials or woody shrubs.
