In an Italy marked by a post-war crisis, but bubbling with great hopes for recovery, the first steps down a long road were taken with the birth of "Aurora", and the creation of the first true Italian fountain-pen. A rich textile merchant, founder of the Torino company of the same name, saw the crystallization of a dream he had long meditated and planned.

In that year, the success enjoyed by the mythical Aurora pen coincided with a new historic direction. Italy woke up to the first rays of a sun was destined not to set, while "Aurora" became the name of a company destined for success.

Schreibgeräte von "Aurora" zeichnen sich aus durch klassische Linien gepaar mit italienischer Leichtigkeit. Bereits seit 1919 ergänzen die Handwerksmeister aus Torino das Angebot hochwertiger Schreibgeräte und messen dem Begriff "Aurora" (ital. [für dt.] "Morgenröte") eine neue Bedeutung bei. Carlo Collodi, whose real name was Carlo Lorenzini, was born on 24 November 1826 in Florence and grew up in modest circumstances as the son of a cook and a chambermaid. The employer of Collodi's parents financed his school education and made it possible for him to study philosophy and rhetoric. After obtaining his degree, Collodi worked as a librarian, translator of fairy tales, novelist, author of schoolbooks and a writer for political journals. He was committed to the cultural and political independance of Italy and published his own satirical newspeper, which sharply opposed the Austrian occupation. To avoid possible persecution, in 1860 he took the name of Collody, after the Tucsan village in which his mother was born.

Under this pseudonym, Collodi was set out to pen one of the few masterpieces of children's literature: "The Adventures of Pinocchio", published in 1883. The fabulous adventures of the mischievous wooden puppet Pinocchio achieved an international breakthrough in the 20th century, and still continue to enchant millions of readers, both young and old - and overwhelming success that the author himself did not see. Carlo Collodi died in 1890 in Florence.

"Collodi" wurde bekannt durch die Villa Garzoni mit ihrem Barockgarten. Außerdem lebten hier die Großeltern von "Carlo Lorenzini", dem Schöpfer des Pinocchio. Er verbrachte einen großen Teil seiner Kindheit hier und legte sich den Künstlernamen "Carlo Collodi" zu.

"Carlo Collodi" kam als "Carlo Lorenzini" in Nordost-Italien in der Toskana als Sohn eines Kochs des Marquis Ginori-Lisci und einer Kammerzofe auf die Welt. Carlo hatte mindestens zehn Geschwister (manche Bücher sagen elf, manche zwölf). Seine Mutter starb sehr früh. Der Marquis kümmerte sich um die Familien seiner Angestellten und übernahm die Kosten für die Ausbildung der Kinder seiner Bediensteten. So konnte Carlo nicht nur eine Schule besuchen, sondern mit 16 Jahren in Florenz ein Studium der Philosophie, der Redekunst und der Literatur aufnehmen.

Nach dem Studium übte er unterschiedliche Tätigkeiten aus. Er war Bibliothekar, Journalist, Chefredakteur politischer Zeitschriften und mitverantwortlich für die Herausgabe von Schulbüchern und einem "Lexikon des Florentiner Sprachgebrauchs".

In den insgesamt 36 Folgen des Kunstmärchens Pinocchio, die zwischen 1881 und 1883 in unregelmäßigen Abständen in der Zeitschrift erschienen und bereits 1883 als Buch veröffentlicht wurden, werden die gleichzeitig fantastischen und realistischen Abenteuer des kleinen hölzernen Jungen und seines Vaters erzählt. Realistisch, also aus dem Leben der Italiener des 19.Jahrhunderts, ist dabei zum Beispiel, wie sein Vater, der Tischler Gepetto, auf der Suche nach seinem weggelaufenen Sohn ins Gefängnis gebracht wird und dass die Richter seine Unschuld nicht glauben.

There, decades ago, "Mario Ferrari", who had been dealing with and selling pens and pen-parts for years across the Continent, founded his own company: "Ferrari da Varese".

Now in the second generation, with son Ivan in charge of the distribution and the marketing of the brand, Ferrari da Varese has kept its human-size, its independence and the entrepreneurial spirit. The administrative headquarters, the after-sales service and part of the end-montage are all located in the lofty Varese neighbourhood. The production itself is partly made in Germany, where the Ferraris are owners of a production facility, partly made in Italy.

The German manufacture is not far from Pforzheim, in the very heart of the traditional production area for jewellery and luxury accessories in German Schwarzwald. The equipment and machinery available are state-of-the-art. But when it comes to hand-operated crafts, like the hand-engraving or the laying of glass-enamel on the pens, Italian craftsmen and specialists are taking over. Because no machines can replace humans for this kind of fine works so far. A chance that in the North of Italy down to Firenze, dozens of small ateliers managed to survive, even if they are often the last representatives from their disappearing crafts or guild. "Where are you from?" - "I’m from Italy. Florence!" - "Ah! Tuscany. Beautiful place!" This is always the exclamation that someone makes whenever they ask me where I live. Tuscany is really a wonderful region and not just because its capital is Florence, but for its culture, its people with the cute accent and for its characteristic hills.

It seems that the "Mazzuoli" and the "Bacci" (my mother's family name) have their roots in Tuscany for at least a couple of centuries and always in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, a small town on the hills of Florence. My grandfather on my mother’s side of the family built bicycles and he even had a bicycle racing team while Lisandro Mazzuoli undertook the art of watchmaker under the "Pistelli" family who was known during the middle of the 1700s for the construction of tower clocks and long case clocks.

Giovanni Mazzuoli (also Giovanni degli Organi) (ca. 1360 - 14 May 1426) was an Italian composer and organist of the late medieval and early Renaissance eras.

Mazzuoli was born in Florence and probably trained on organ by his father Niccolò, who was organist at the church of Orsanmichele until 1376. Giovanni was given this position in 1379, which he held until 1412; he also held organist positions at S. Felicita (1385-1390) and Florence Cathedral (1390-1426). In his last years at Florence he was assisted at the organ by his son Piero.

Moleskine ist das Erbe des legendären Notizbuches der Künstler und Intellektuellen der vergangenen zwei Jahrhunderte, von Vincent Van Gogh bis Pablo Picasso, von Ernest Hemingway bis Bruce Chatwin. Ein schlichtes, schwarzes Rechteck, an den Ecken abgerundet, die von einem elastischen Band gehaltenen Vorsatzblätter, die Innentasche: ein anonymes und in seiner Essenzialität perfektes Objekt, mehr als 100 Jahre von einer kleinen, französischen Manufaktur hergestellt, die die Pariser Buchhandlungen belieferte, welche von der internationalen künstlerischen und intellektuellen Avantguarde besucht wurden. In seinem Buch "Traumpfade" erzählt Chatwin uns die Geschichte des kleinen, schwarzen Buches: 1986 lässt der Hersteller, ein Familienunternehmen aus Tours die Rolläden herunter. "Le vrai moleskine n'est plus", habe ihm die Besitzerin der Papierwarenhandlung in der Rue de l'Ancienne Comédie verkündete, wo er gewöhnlich einkaufte, theatralisch. Chatwin kaufte alle Notizbücher die er finden konnte bevor er nach Australien aufbrach, doch es waren nicht genug.

1997 erweckte ein kleiner Mailänder Verlag das legendäre Notizbuch zu neuem Leben und wählte diesen literarischen Namen, um eine außergewöhnliche Tradition wieder aufleben zu lassen.

Im Gefolge von Chatwin nahm das Notizbuch von Moleskine seine Reise wieder auf und wurde zum unverzichtbaren Gegenstück zur neuen, tragbaren Technologie von heute. For over a century a small French bookbinder supplied Paris stationery shops with this simple black book where the artistic and literary avant-gardes of the world browsed and bought them. Writer-traveler Bruce Chatwin used to buy his moleskine at a Paris stationery shop in Rue de l'Ancienne Comédie, always stocking up before going on his infamous journeys.

It was Bruce Chatwin that called this little black notebook, "moleskine".

He gave his friend Luis Sepùlveda, a Chilean novelist, a precious moleskine before a trip to Patagonia. It was precious because by then the notebooks were no longer to be found, as the small family concern in Tours closed down. "Le vrai moleskine n’est plus" were the lapidary words of the stationer to Chatwin who had ordered one hundred before leaving for Australia. Now, the Moleskine® tradition continues by Italian manufacturer Moleskine Srl. It can go back to being a witness, passing from one pocket to another and continue the adventure.

The Company's name is indicative of the location of the manufacturing facility. "ELMO" is the Italian interpretation of the name of one of the Founders who was of German origin, Eng. "Heinrich Helm". "MONTEGRAPPA" is the name of the famous mountain which rises to a height of 1775 meters and dominates the Bassanese landscape. Heinrich Helm's partner was Eng. "Alessandro Marzotto", a member of an aristocratic Venetian family. The partnership of the two men of different backgrounds and cultures, joined in unison by a mutual obsession and passion for quality and innovative mechanization resulted in Italy's first Fountain Pen factory.

"Battista ‹‹Pinin›› Farina" was born in Turin, November 2, 1893.

In 1961, the President of the Italian Republic, acting on a proposal made by the Minister of Justice, authorized the change of his last name to "Pininfarina" in consideration of his achievements in social and industrial activities.

At age 11 he began working in his brother Giovanni's bodyshop, the "Stabilimenti Farina". During the First World War he personally supervised the construction of the "Aviatic" trainer planes, for which he received a commendation from the Office of Military Aviation.

In 1920, he went to the United States to see America and judge first hand the great developments in that country. In Detroit he met with Henry Ford, who asked him to stay in America and work for Ford Motor Company, but Pininfarina preferred to return to Italy. However, this American visit was of great value, not so much for new technological information as for the glimpse of the enthusiasm that private enterprise instilled in the American people. The feverish pace of the American life impressed him and encouraged him to take up the challenge of his lifetime.

Officine Meccaniche Armando Simoni : la marque Omas est en fait un sigle qui fut déposé à Bologne en 1925 par un horloger de 28 ans. Spécialiste en pièces détachées de précision, Armando Simoni avait fini par fabriquer des pièces destinées à la réparation des stylos existants, et il en vint tout naturellement à fabriquer des stylos à plume pour d'autres marques italiennes (Nettuno, Zerollo, Ercolessi, Edelweiss).

Der "Stubben", des -s, plur. ut nom. sing. ein nur im Niederdeutschen übliches Wort, den Stock oder das Stammende eines gefälleten Baumes zu bezeichnen. Im Angels. "Steb", "Stybb", Engl. "Stubb", Schwed. "Stubbe". Es ist mit dem Lat. "Stipes", "Stipula", mit unserm "Stoppel", "stapfen", "stumpf" u. s. f. nahe verwandt. Im Nieders. ist "stuuf", "stumpf", abgestutzt.

"Stümpfen", verb. reg. act. 1. Der Spitze berauben, und dadurch ein stumpfes Ansehen geben; in welcher Bedeutung es doch im Hochdeutschen wenig gebraucht wird. Die Bäume stümpfen, in der Schweiz, wofür man im Hochdeutschen "kappen", "köpfen" oder "stutzen" sagt. Nieders. "stumpfen". 2. "Stumpf machen", Nieders. Stipulate

The word is generally given from the Latin "stipula" ("a straw"), and it is said that a straw was given to the purchaser in sign of a real delivery. Isidore (v. 24) asserts that the two contracting parties broke a straw between them, each taking a moiety, that, by rejoining the parts, they might prove their right to the bargain. With all deference to the Bishop of Seville, his “fact” seems to belong to limbo-lore. All bargains among the Romans were made by asking a question and replying to it. One said, An stipem vis? the other replied, Stipem volo (“Do you require money?” “I do”); the next question and answer were, An dabis? Dabo (“Will you give it?” “I will”); the third question was to the surety, An spondes? to which he replied, Spondeo (“Will you be security?” “I will”), and the bargain was made. So that "stipulate" is compounded of "stips-volo" ("stip'ulo"), and the tale about breaking the straws seems to be concocted to bolster up a wrong etymology.

"Stipula", in der Botanik, das "Nebenblatt" oder "Afterblatt", ein blattartiges Organ, welches am Grunde eines Blattes oder Blattstiels (immer in der Zweizahl) vorkommt, häufig einen gleichen Bau, wie die eigentlichen Blätter besitzt, aber meist eine von dieser verschiedene Gestalt, und eine andere Vertheilung der Nerven zeigt. Die beiden Nebenblätter eines Blattes sind bald unter sich getrennt und vom Blattstiele frei, wie bei Potentilla, Vicia, Lathyrus, bald dem Blattstiele angewachsen, wie bei den Trifoliumarten, bald miteinander selbst mehr oder weniger vollständig verwachsen, wie bei Astragalus Onobrychis und Melianthus major.

"Stipulaceus", "nebenblattartig", "aus Nebenblättern bestehend", oder aus deren Bildung abzuleiten, wie die Knospendecken von Liriodendron, Fagus und Salix - Gemma stipulacea, die nebenblattdeckige Knospe, die mit solchen Decken versehen ist, wie in den angegebenen Beispiclen. S. auch "Stipula". "Stipulaneus", "nebenblattvertretend", "die Stelle eines Nebenblattes einnehmend": Spina stipulanea, der Nebenblattdorn, z. B. bei Robinia Pseudacacia, Acacia armata, Capparis spinosa. So heißt "Stipularis", "zum Nebenblatte gehörig", "einem Nebenblatte zukommend", und "Stipulatus", "nebenblättrig", "mit Nebenblättern versehen".

"Stipuliren", "festsetzen", "feierlich versprechen", das heißt, durch Hand und Mund, was abgeredet worden zu halten; daher heißt "Stipulirung", "Stipulatio", in den Rechten, eine solche Verbindung, wo Einer dem Andern etwas zu geben oder zu thun verspricht, wo also diese Verabredung gegenseitig festgesetzt wird, ohne Abweichung.

Herkunft und Entwicklung

Die Wortbedeutung und Ursprung der "Stipulation" ist unklar. Die Institutiones Justinians (I 3,15 pr.) leitet "stipulatio" von einem sonst nicht bezeugten Wort "stipulus" (= "fest") ab, das mit "stipes" (= "Stamm", "Stock", "Pfahl") zusammenhängen soll (danach wäre "stipulatio" der Bedeutung nach identisch mit der firmatio des deutschen Rechts; über die Verwendung eines Stabs im Stipulationsritual wurde spekuliert, auf eine Ableitung von "stipula", dem "Halm", "Splitter", weist nichts hin). Moderne Ansichten leiten die Entstehung aus einem promissorischen Eid, oder aus der Bürgenstellung her.

Vielleicht beruht die Undurchsichtigkeit ihrer Vorgeschichte gerade auf der Tatsache, dass die "Stipulation" verhältnismäßig sehr früh, bereits im Legisaktionenverfahren, eine hervorragende Rolle im Rechtsleben zu spielen begann und darum bereits in einer stark abgeschliffenen Gestalt in den für uns geschichtlich erfassbaren Zeitraum eintrat. Das älteste Formular war die "sponsio", bei der die Stichwörter "spondesne" und "spondeo" lauteten. Jünger sind andere Formulare, die auch den Peregrinen (Nichtbürger) zugänglich waren: fide promittis? fide promitto, oder einfach promittisne? promitto, dann auch dabisne? dabo. Schließlich galt auch der Gebrauch der lateinischen Sprache nicht als wesentlich (Gai. 3, 93; D.45.1.1.6), wenn nur die Form von Frage und Antwort und der Gleichlaut der Stichworte gewahrt blieb. Seit etwa dem Beginn des dritten Jahrhunderts n. Chr. verzichtete man dann auch auf den Gleichlauf der Stichworte (D. 45.1.1.2), seit Kaiser Leo 472 auf den Gebrauch von Frage und Antwort, so dass schließlich jede formlose mündliche Vereinbarung unter Anwesenden die Wirkung einer Stipulation hatte.
