Taj Mahal (W3)
Das "Taj Mahal", "Tadsch Mahal" (= dt. "Palast der Krone"), in Agra (Indien) erinnert an (die sogenannte) "Mimtaz Mahal", "Mumtaz Mahal" = dt. "Das Wunder des Palastes" (mit sanskr., arab. "mahal" = "Palast"). Sie war die geliebte Frau von Schah Jahan, der 1628 den Thron bestieg. Aus Kummer über ihren Tod bei der Geburt des 14. Kindes errichtete er ihr dieses Mausoleum. Es ist also eine steingewordene Liebeserklärung (post mortem).Es gibt jedoch auch andere Übersetzungsvarianten wie arab. "halla" = "wohnen", pers. "taj" = engl. "crown", "diadem", "ornamental headdress". Im Englischen findet man "Taj Mahal" seit 1895 auch als Bezeichnung für etwas Ausgezeichnetes, etwas Hervorragendes.
Mit "Taj Mahal" wurden sowohl eine Rose als auch ein Füllfederhalter benannt. Und dann gibt es noch das "Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort" (benannt nach "Donald Trump"). Und ein Musiker nannte sich auch "Taj Mahal".
Built in the 17th century, Taj Mahal is a unique combination of different styles of ancient architecture of India where every single detail has a hidden meaning. In 2007 it was listed as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

Der "Taj Mahal" ("Tadsch Mahal") ist ein Mausoleum, welches in der Nähe Agras im indischen Bundesstaat Uttar Pradesh auf einer 100 m x 100 m großen Marmorplattform errichtet wurde. But some authorities hold that the name of the mausoleum is a corruption of the name of the woman interred in it, "Mumtaz (in Persian, literally "chosen one") Mahal", who died in 1631. Im Jahre 1629 starb die Frau des indischen Großmoguls Schah Jahan, als sie ihm das 14. Kind gebar. Arjumand Banu, auch Mumtaz Mahal genannt, war damals 36 Jahre alt und 17 Jahre verheiratet. Mit ihr verlor der Monarch nicht nur seine geliebte Frau, sondern auch eine kluge politische Beraterin. Es wird berichtet, daß er 2 Jahre um sie getrauert habe, nach anderen Erzählungen wurde sein Haar weiß vor Schmerz. Jahan gelobte ein Grabmal zu bauen, daß dem Andenken seiner Frau würdig sei, etwas außergewöhnliches, dem nichts in der Welt gleichen sollte und er schuf es mit dem Taj Mahal.

Le Taj Mahal révčle sa fascinante beauté sur la rive sud du fleuve Yamuna, prčs d'Agra, dans le nord de l'Inde.La tombe est celle de Mumtaz Mahal, seconde femme et favorite de l'empereur moghol Shah Jahan, morte en 1631 ŕ 38 ans. Elle venait de mettre au monde un quatorzičme enfant. On prétend que les cheveux de l'empereur devinrent gris dans la nuit qui suivit la mort de son épouse adorée. La légende veut aussi qu'il recruta un architecte originaire d'Iran, Isa Khan, dont il tua la femme pour qu'il éprouve vivement la douleur de perdre sa bien-aimée. De cette façon, l'empereur croyait que le pauvre architecte trouverait l'inspiration nécessaire ŕ la réalisation d'un chef-d'oeuvre. Bien que ce cruel procédé ait fonctionné, les travaux s'étendirent sur 17 années de besogne laborieuse, de 1631 ŕ 1648. Cette entreprise déraisonnable mit ŕ sec les finances du royaume et l'empereur fut renversé en 1658, par l'un de ses fils. On l'enferma alors dans une chambre du fort rouge d'Agra, donnant sur le Taj Mahal oů il termina sa vie, le regard porté sur le dernier refuge de cette femme qu'il avait tant aimé !
