Rosalind, Alberta
Rosalind is a village located in the prairies of central Alberta, Canada. It is located on Highway 854, approximately 120 kilometres (75 mi) southeast of Edmonton and 30 kilometres (19 mi) southeast of Camrose, the closest major trading centre.
The name "Rosalind" was first used in 1905 and is likely an amalgamation of the nearby school districts "Montrose" and "East Lynne".
Rosalind has a number of small businesses, an elementary school, and a junior high school. The village provides various municipal services to its residents including fire protection.

The Canadian province of Alberta has 365 school authorities, which are sometimes referred to as school boards, school districts or school divisions. Types include public school, separate school and francophone school authorities. There are also charter schools and private schools that act as their own authorities, as well as schools under the authority of early childhood services (ECS) private operators and Federal Indian Affairs.[1] Alberta's school authorities report to Alberta Education.

Did you know that the famous Vulcan salute was invented by Leonard Nimoy and based on a priestly blessing performed by Jewish Kohanim?
Hit the jump for a bunch of other interesting facts.

Book Description
For Albertans - and for that matter, all Canadians - the name of this western province is inseparable from the maverick attitude it connotes. Alberta conjures images of honest, backbreaking work, free from the restraints of propriety and status found in older settled lands. As with the province, the names of its cities and towns, villages and hamlets reveal attitudes, values, history and geographical connections.
Focusing not just on basic facts, The Story Behind Alberta Names fleshes out the personalities, using humorous anecdotes, the context of people's lives and careers, and the relationship between individuals and the places named for them.
